Happy Holidays!

Ally and ZhuZhuPet (Cutie), Digital Art

It's been a while, but come back to "Dear Ally" with a new attitude and a new means of reaching my dreams. I have the best friends you'd envy-for my 21st birthday they chipped in to buy me an INTUOS 4! A replacement for the tablet that was stolen from me last year....

Oh man.

This kicks ass.

Cheers to more updates and more artwork!

Two months of:
Moving into a new apartment for school, lots of settling in, tons of sketches and some paintings, and lots of web-slacking.

Oh, and my camera broke.

SO!

Until then:Ain't that cool? My ta, , showed this in class. I thought I'd show it here!

Sketchoholic!

So this was my first time doing the 3 Hour (which turned into a 4 Hour) Marathon!

Topic: Satan's Little Helper.
Medium: Color Pencil

Topic: Strange Encounters
Medium: Graphite

Topic: Strange Shapes
Medium: Graphite
Topic: Animal for a head
Medium: Graphite

The first one I was literally two seconds too late to submit it online. I realized that I had to resize it too late :(

I had fun with all of them, though the last one I had to finish in a hurry so I could continue working on my other projects! :) These are really fun. It's challenging because it makes you think and it makes you focus.. a lot. Hopefully by continuously doing these marathons I can improve my art skills and have a couple to put in my portfolio towards the end of the year!

K, back to the projects,

Art Sketch Group

So the last contest for Dice's artwork was on www.sketchoholic.com! Fortunately or unfortunately, I lost. It was the first time I ever did something like that, so I'm for sure going to keep going on the site and submitting artwork when I have the time!

..And since I have the time I decided to do a simple sketch for a contest ending today! Most of the contests on the website don't have prizes, but it's fun to do for practice and to see other artistic renditions of the same topic.

Here's Mr. Moonface for the anthropomorphic character contest:

Graphite

:) It's so nice to be sketching often again.. especially since I'm not worried about my classes anymore. Classes are amazing to increase technical skill and receive amazing critique plus keep yourself practicing with a certain medium or mediums. Now I'm excited to take what I learned and continue exploring my mind!

End of Summer Classes

First off,

AUG 8, 1:00-1:30PM PT, PLEASE VOTE FOR ME #63!

"You Got Mail!" Acrylic

Did this today to submit in a contest for one of Dice Tsutsumi's original artworks! For those who don't know (and you should so now you will!) Dice is one of my FAVORITE Pixar artists. I love his artwork. Love. Adore. It inspires me all the time to push myself harder and try new techniques. To have one of his artworks will be.. well.. amazing. If not, it'll be nice for him to notice me? Even a bit?

Oh, he was also the art director for Toy Story 3. Yeah.

PLEASE VOTE!

I apologize for the lack of blogging. My excuse is that my classes got harder and took up a large chunk of my time. And I've been feeling extremely exhausted lately, which I'll blame on being female and on my thyroid :D

Here are artworks from my figure drawing class:

Hopefully next time I will be able to post new soft pastel drawings. I'm feeling really inspired by Bill Cone. I'm going to try and imitate his style!

Until then,

Better late than never?

I'm sorry for the late post. Yesterday I spent my morning painting and the evening with a special man. Hope you enjoy this!

---

The next two are tiny 5x7 canvas paintings. I'm doing a series of six, but here's a sneak peak on the first two! It's from my airplane ride with the lover on our six months with his brother as pilot. <3>
Dear Crystal Adams, I hope you do not see this until it arrives in NZ ;) If you do, don't say anything til you get the actual painting! Heehe. It's still in process, but it is almost done!

Hi. I am Angie's lemons. Nom. This was after being super frustrated with one of my other paintings. I decided to join in on the assignments to beginning class was doing. :)

Herro Miss Skeleton! First time with a traditional pen and ink wash. This might be my favorite way of sketching now :)

Gorgeous woman, but it was a bit hard drawing her. Not a lot of variety so it was not as fun, but still great practice.

Just going to call her the hottest model EVER. What amazing curves in all the most amazing places. Damn.

Models

So I really do have some paintings to post but I'm working on the details as of right now. Hopefully it'll be done by Sunday, along with this weekend's work!

Meanwhile, here are some figure drawings done this past week.

First Model
She was very still most of the time but her poses weren't very varied. And she was suuuper toned. Angie, a friend in my class, and I had a bit of a rough time with her.

Second Model
Really challenging poses, but unfortunately she can't really stand still. Super fun to draw though, and really friendly! :)

Tralala

This week has been rough but through it all I've been sketching and painting to help time by. Here are some ideas I want to put in the apartment next year! My scanner is too small to scan the entire page on the last two, and I swear you can read it in real life; the quality is kind of shitty. My bad.

Theres a lot more coming :) It's nice to be painting so much again.
